Lauren Baker

I’m Lauren the Creative Director of Square Peg Activities. I am also a parent to 3 Autistic children as well as a stepchild. Before I had children I worked in the hospitality and events industries and before that I trained in dance and drama.

We originally started running stay & play sessions when I discovered there was nowhere safe to take my own children. I think coming from a creative, customer facing background really helps me design interesting and fun experiences for our families. Being a parent to disabled children means I know first hand what many of our parents/carers go through on a daily basis which puts me in a great position to put new families at ease.

Interesting fact: I used to work as a background artist and was on set with a few celebrities as well as in a music video

Sharon Needham

I'm Sharon one of the founders of the charity. I have a background in networking and working at management level so have naturally adopted the role of Operations Director. Family challenges that presented when my grandchildren were young was the inspiration for the charity and it has become a family driven goal to support those in similar situations, and to take Square Peg to be the best organisation for disability leisure in North Birmingham and beyond. My passion for Square Peg motivates me and it is a pleasure to work within the organisation with our fantastic team.

Interesting fact - I am a travel junkie and have visited many countries in the past, however we are fulfilling an ambition to visit every UK county on our wedding anniversary to see more of what our own country offers

Leanne Weaver

Hiya, I’m Leanne and I joined the team in June 2023! My background is very different to the rest of the team as I spent 6 years of my career working in Learning & Development. However, with over 10 years’ experience in administration, needing to remain part time due to studying a degree and having a 3-year-old Autistic child; paired with my passion for inclusivity, especially Disability Inclusivity, Square Peg Activities seemed like the best next step in my career pathway! Working within a sector that faces challenges, is forever adapting and ensuring to always support those like my child is very rewarding!

Interesting fact about me is probably that I have been blogging since I was 14 and that I also write music reviews for 3 Songs & Out (outside of my pink and red hair and tattoos 😂)

Susan Norry

Hi there, I'm Sue, a play worker and administrative assistant at Square Peg. I started as a volunteer here a year ago....and I now get paid for doing something I love, how lucky am I!

I love kids, and my own 4 children have given me the patience, inspiration and experience needed for my job. Outside of work, my life is my family and I enjoy nothing more than a big gathering with family and friends, where I get to try out my new recipes on them all.

I love love love the sunshine, being outdoors and walking for miles with the dog, my husband and our youngest, James, who is almost 10. If I do manage to find some alone time, I will almost certainly have my head stuck in a good book and a big bar of chocolate in my hand!

Paul Steadman

Hi, I'm Paul and I am Square Peg Activities Bookkeeper. I have officially worked for Square Peg since October 2024 but I have volunteered with them for a long while. My background is in finance and management accounting, before Square Peg I worked at AON and the West Brom building society. I am very passionate about helping Square Peg as a parent of autistic children.

Interesting fact about me, as well as working at Square Peg Activities I also have a business called Humbug Records selling vinyl records online and at record fairs.
